Up-selling

Up-selling is a sales technique whereby a seller encourages a potential or current customer to purchase more expensive items, upgrades, or other add-ons to increase the size and scope of that customer's business. Up-selling is different from cross-selling which is a technique that aims to sell different product or service lines that may be viewed as complementary, but are usually of a different category or type than the primary purchase under consideration.
