Is SMS Texting the Next Great Sales Communications Tool?

If you’re like most people, your phone is your trusty sidekick-it’s the first thing you check when you wake up, the last thing you check before you fall asleep and rarely leaves your side during the day. Whether you’re scanning Facebook, playing games, sending emails or exchanging texts, our mobile devices have become our laptop, landline and lifeline all rolled into one.

This “always on” way of life has also changed the way people do business. While phone calls, emails and other more traditional means of communications will always play an important role, people are increasingly tapping into SMS text messaging for business benefits. Texting has become such a growing and important topic for our customers that we recently hosted a webinar “New Insights For Using SMS Texting in Sales.”

In our recent study of more than 500 consumers and 350 businesses, Ellie Mae found that texting is becoming an increasingly popular way to follow up with business contacts you have an existing relationship with already. SMS texting offers the convenience of responding to simple items (appointment reminders, status updates), helps flag more urgent notifications and is the fastest way for people to respond–58% of consumers reply within 10 minutes.

As texting evolves into a new and powerful sales communication tool, there are still biases to overcome and opportunities for education. More than 50% of those surveyed shared that compliance concerns and lack of a technology solution are the main reasons they haven’t included SMS texting into their professional communications mix. The good news is that we recently announced a re-imagined Velocify LeadManager SMS texting capability that empowers sales organizations to tap into the power of mobile!
